SERVICE OPPORTUNITIES
CONCESSION STAND
Most teams are assigned 1 night during the season to work the concession stand. We ask that there be 3 volunteers in there. Usually there are 2 shifts one from and one from . You will be taking orders at the windows and the late shift will help clean and stock. There will be a Board Member in the concession stand always to help things run smoothly and to keep the hot food items stocked. Insurance does not allow any person under 14 to be in the concession stand. This is really a very enjoyable evening. You get to know the other parents on your team and meet all at the ballpark. We have opportunities to serve in there all season, not just on our assigned evening. Let us know when you can help. It is also a great chance for children that need community service hours to fulfill that commitment.
UMPIRE
Most of our umpiring is all done by volunteers. Your team will be assigned up to 3 nights to umpire in a different league than you play in. That will require you to have at least 2 umpires assigned on your nights. We ask that you have a basic knowledge of the rules in the League you will be umpiring in. We have rule books available and our local rules are on the general info page. We are always looking for umpires so this is another chance for you to help out. We ask that no person under 14 umpire in the TBall & 5Pitch Leagues and that they have an adult with them. If you are interested in working as a paid umpire email us and let us know. We will put you on the list.
SCOREKEEPERS
The home team is required to keep the scorebook and box at their games. We ask that at least 2 people do this. The person that does the scorebook will list the line ups for both teams and keep track of outs and runs in the book. Please put the team names and the date of the game in the book. The basic instructions to keep the book are on the first page. We will have copies of the instruction at the concession stand if you would like to have them before your game. The person that keeps the score box will run the scoreboard. This is very easy to operate you will catch on quickly. Little League has changed their pitching rules this year to a pitch count system. The home team will also be required to have a person keep track of pitches. There is a place in the scorebook to keep track by xing out a circle after each pitch. We also have attached a pitch counter to each box. We ask that you make a notation after each inning how many pitches an individual pitcher has pitched and make both coaches aware of this number. There are 2 boxes stamped on the bottom of the score book. One is for the final score, the other is for the pitchers from each pitcher on each team and, how many pitches they pitched. Please fill in both of these and have each manager and one umpire sign the book after the game. It is important that these are accurate. Every team should have several people that know how to do this.
MANAGERS/COACHES
We could not operate without the tireless hours our mangers and coaches put in. They are responsible for all aspects of team management. They schedule time and locations for practices. They supervise practices deciding what drills and techniques they will teach. They are responsible for teaching the players about leadership, sportsmanship, team work, and most importantly how to play the great game of baseball. They create the line ups and batting orders for games. They coordinate concession stand and umpire duty for the team. They get the blame for the losses and the credit for the wins.
BOARD MEMBERS
There are few greater service opportunities than those that are involved in the lives of your children. We on the Board of RCELL enjoy what we do and do it to make RCELL the best baseball program in
